The royal rebel and humanitarian known as Diana, the Princess of Wales, was one of the most iconic figures in modern history. Diana changed the public image of what a royal figure should be or act like.
Dubbed the people’s princess by the media, she was adored all over the world for her kind spirit and her love for others, especially those of underprivileged background and those who were less fortunate in society. She went to places a royal has never been before or dared to, and had an infinite compassion for all types of people, disregarding race, religion, ethnicity or social class.
On August 31st, 1997, the world lost this bright star in the road tunnel beneath the Pont de l'Alma, in Paris. Along with the Flame of Liberty monument that lies above, it immediately became an unofficial memorial for Diana, Princess of Wales, filled with messages of love for the royal icon, a true diamond that still means so much to so many.
