After some unusual days of heavy rain in California, the sun miraculously came out as the stars arrived at the Oscars red carpet. With classic couture gowns and some bold statement dresses, the 86th Academy Awards was a true spectacle for fashion lovers and moviegoers.
Plunging necklines, strapless dresses and dramatic drapings brought the magic of old Hollywood glam to the Oscar arrivals, but the most popular trend among the stars was definitely the shimmering nude tones. Cate Blanchett was stunning in an embellished Armani Privé chiffon dress, Julie Delpy looked magnificent in a translucent, 1920s inspired gown by Jenny Packham and Sarah Paulson was divine in an Elie Saab beaded dress.
Lupita Nyong'o, who's been hitting the red carpet with the most stunning looks throughout the awards season, did not disappoint in her pale blue pleated Prada dress. Apart from neutrals, strong colors made the show with vibrant reds, dark blues and emerald greens. Jennifer Lawrence dazzled once again in a bright strapless dress by Dior, Amy Adams looked flawless in a tailored, dark blue Gucci gown and Viola Davis made the show with a jewel tone dress by Vera Wang.
Closing the American awards season, the 86th Academy Awards proved that Hollywood glam is alive and well.
