Do you remember the gowns designed by some of the greatest fashion designers for Harrods Fairy tale Christmas windows last year? Well, Harrods and Disney announced that they will be auctioned at Christies next November in order to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
Renowned designers created dresses for 10 princesses from memorable Disney fairy tales. Donattela Versace designed a stunning golden dress for Cinderella, Oscar de la Renta was responsible for Snow White’s statement gown and Elie Saab came up with a dreamy Sleeping Beauty’s dress.
Valentino showed his talent for romance with a flowing yellow gown for Belle (from Beauty and the Beast), Jenny Packham brought beautiful melancholy with a pale aubergine dress for Rapunzel and Marchesa dived into deep blue with a stunning dress for Ariel (from Little Mermaid). Ralph & Russo brought a flowing pale blue gown for Tiana (from the Princess and the Frog), while Escada went all red for princess Yasmine.
Warrior princesses also had their way with Missoni, who designed Mulan’s asian inspired kimono dress and Roberto Cavalli, who created Pocahontas’s feather printed dress.
“These exquisite dresses are really one-of-a-kind fashion items from some of the most celebrated and collected designers this century,” said Mark Briggs, store image director at Harrods. “They caused a huge amount of excitement when they were first showcased in the Harrods windows and we’re sure fashion aficionados around the world will be thrilled with the opportunity to own something so utterly unique.”
