Love it or hate it? Comment this post here. The MTV Video Music Awards went to Brooklyn for the first time. On a red carpet that completely filled the surrounding streets around the Barclays Center, some of the hottest names in American pop music emerged.
If the Oscars or the Emmys ask for glamour and sophistication, the MTV ceremony goes exactly for the opposite, having already been the stage of some controversial looks like the infamous meat dress worn by Lady Gaga or the slender net to what Rose McGowan called a dress. In the show that took place on August 25, there were just a few daring moments on the red carpet. Instead of rebellious looks, casual style took place and sequin studded dresses made the cut, going for that old Hollywood glamour.
The real controversy took place on stage. Miley Cyrus ignited social networks and public opinion with a racy performance (only) prepared to be a sure target by several conservative American groups and managed to overshadow the performance of the usual audacity queen, Lady Gaga. In a show that, at the expense of music, increasingly supports visual resources, there were no really big surprises. The glare on the red carpet remains.
