The Chanel show for the Fall/Winter 2014/15 Ready-to-Wear collection became an unforgettable highlight during Paris Fashion Week. Karl Lagerfeld transformed the runway into a huge supermarket, where models pushed trollies down colorful aisles, filled with Chanel labeled everyday needs, like tinned soups, coffee cans, washing up gloves and even tiny designer sweets. Chain and leather grocery baskets, packed quilted bags and pop top cans turned into brooches and necklaces pushed the Pop references in this fun, easy collection.

But Karl Largerfeld was actually not the only one looking at food for inspiration for the Fall/Winter 2014 collections. In London, British accessories designer Anya Hindmarch also had models walking down the runway with leather bags inspired by emblematic brands, such as Daz, Ariel and Kellog's. Iconic images were collected from their package design and plastered across tote bags and clutches, finished with voluminous tassel pendants.

In Milan, the market didn't come to the runway, but Jeremy Scott's Moschino collection did catch people's eyes with dramatic dresses and accessories inspired by Hershey's bar wrappers, Budweiser's beer labels and McDonald's iconography. The Happy Meal quilted bag was a hit.

Pop inspirations seem to be a must for Fall/Winter 2014/15 and the irony of mixing major consumer goods with high-end luxury does bring a fun approach on today's obsession for brands. But is ready-to-wear fashion going too far? Let's see if it catches on.
