Love it or hate it? Comment this post here. The Invisible Shoes were commissioned by fashion director Nicola Formichetti for Lady Gaga, but when footwear designer Andreia Chaves finished her work, she was informed that the pop singer would not be needing it anymore. You might think this was a terrible outcome, but the fact is that the footwear style became viral and soon everyone was amazed with this unusual accessory. One of those people was Björk, who fell in love with the mirrored shoes.
The Invisible Shoe explores the concept of optical illusion. Through the use of the “chameleon effect”, this unique footwear simulates invisibility with a reflective finished surface (created from laser cut mirrored facades) that creates a deceptive illusion with every step taken. Besides the reflective version, there's also a model composed by a 3D printed nylon structure over nude leather that creates a different effect.
The shoes are magnificent and the design is stunning, so we might think that being invisible in these might be an impossible task, don't you think?
