Love it or hate it? Comment this post here. The 2015 Cannes Film Festival started on the 13th of May with a stunning opening ceremony, but it wasn't really trending on an international scale until some faces started to appear on the red carpet. On that note, no one rocked the red carpet better than the L'Oréal Paris girls. I'm not saying that all of them blew our minds away, but they certainly made a mark with their amazing couture dresses and social media presence.
Starting with the queen of Cannes, Mrs Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who walked along the festival's red carpet for the 14th year. Besides being a renowned Indian actress, Aishwarya is also an amazing dancer and she managed to show that with her graceful body language and flirty eye contact while posing for the photographers. Mrs Bachchan looked gorgeous wearing a green Elie Saab dress and an embellished white Ralph & Russo gown on the red carpet. She also wore a beautiful lavender Elie Saab strapless dress at the amfAR gala.
Eva Longoria celebrated 10 years with L'Oreal Paris. The American actress looked like a fierce princess, wearing a blue Versace gown and a sexy Gabriela Cadena ivory dress on the red carpet. At the amfAR gala, she wore a mint green Georges Hobeika dress with a plunging neckline. Aishwarya and Eva took a selfie that immediately went viral, more than any movie poster screened at Cannes.
Honestly speaking, I almost forgot that the Cannes Film Festival is about cinema. Why? The most trending social media hashtags were more related to fashion than film. Besides that, the number of youtube views from the live red carpet at la Montée des Marches surpassed the number of views from directors talking about their movies. To top all this, there was a controversy about women wearing flats being banned from the ceremony. I say these are strong evidences supporting my feeling that Cannes is becoming more about fashion and less about the film industry.
