Comment this post here.Azores and Japan are located on the same latitude and both places were the starting point to 'Kampai', the Autumn/Winter 2014/15 collection by BAM, a brand created three years ago by Ana Menezes. The Portuguese designer gathered the charcoal colors from the volcanic islands of Azores and combined them with the simple geometric lines of the Japanese aesthetic.
These two inspirations match very well in the structured shapes of simple paneled tops, mini dresses and fitted vests. Some occasional asymmetrical lines create the necessary playfulness in pocket details and a layered dress. In some pieces, richer colors like red and neon yellow harmonize with the neutral palette.
Clean and wearable should never mean boring and that is why Ana Menezes explores minimalist ideas without any prejudice or limitation. The play on shapes and colors becomes her way to achieve beautiful formal pieces of clothing that everybody wants to wear.
