The most famous and the most loved doll in the world, Barbie, came alive on the catwalk during Milan Fashion Week for the Moschino Spring/Summer 2015 collection, thanks to the daring eye of Jeremy Scott, creative director for the Italian brand. After taking Spongebob and McDonalds as an inspiration for the last Fall/Winter collection for 2014/15, the eccentric designer was, once again, moved by a pop culture element, in this case, an icon for most girls around the world.
The models paraded on the catwalk, wearing what seemed like adorable Barbie outfits, with vivacious colors and oversized accessories. In every look, the styling was made to mimic the doll, with huge bows decorating the hair, plastic accessories, curvy logos and heart-shaped sunglasses.
Evening dresses with many elements from the 80s came in lycra and shiny, silky fabrics in vibrant colors like pink, yellow, gold and silver. Denim pants were combined with heart print blouses and leather boots. Short "bikini suits" with a sewn on swimwear piece created a fun illusion. Fluffy creations were paired with totally pink lipstick and voluminous platinum blonde wigs.
It was definitely a fun show that brought us the Pop world of Barbie in such an imaginative way.
