"Knit Your Dreams" is the motto with which he welcomes us to his world. With just three words, Nassos Ntotsikas manages to point out the dynamics of knitted garments and narrate the rich history of the Greek tradition, but he also reminds us that we are the only ones who can set the limits on our own creations.
When we think of knitted clothing, a boring jumper or a cardigan in a dull burgundy or dark green might be the first thing that comes to mind. But how wrong can this be! For Nassos, knitted clothing has endless possibilities that depend on the weave and the materials used, as well as on the creator's design abilities. This Greek designer manages to surprise us by designing Prêt-à-Porter, Evening and even Bridal collections with knits as its main material.
So the question arising is: why don’t other designers also take advantage of its potential? Nassos has definitely recognized its potential. He specialized in knitted techniques and design during his studies at the Academia di Costume e di Moda di Roma and he was the creative head for international brands like Paul Smith, the British Masters of style.
Nassos’s muse for his current Spring/Summer 2014 collection "Diaspora" (Dispersion) is Marianna Polychronidis, a beautiful and talented Greek performer that really shows how knitted garments can be sexy and embrace the female body. As perfect this duo can be, Marianna and Nassos recently announced a partnership to create jewels signed by the famous performer.
Nassos Ntotsikas dynamic logo, a spinning wheel, combines the legacy that was inherited from his own grandmother, who used to work in one, with the contemporary techniques and designs that he uses today. An ideal image to embody the nature of his creative work.
