The Gucci woman is stepping into a different phase, she is self assured, yet feminine and sensual without having to wear all those tight clothes to show off her body anymore. Frida Giannini, who is currently the creative director of the Italian fashion house, is finally getting it right. The secret of success is to be able to evolve, to change and stay relevant to current times. Frida Giannini managed to do that by reinventing the Gucci personality for this season, with a woman who is not sexy, but sensual.

The brand's iconic woman used to wear very sexy pieces, like slim fitted tops, pencil skirts and tight fitted trousers, but you will be surprised to see that, for this Spring/Summer 2014, Gucci goes for the opposite. Still true to its nature as it remains sensual, Frida Giannini wins a difficult bet by making loose fitted clothes look elegant and feminine with Kaftans, wide trousers and tops, jumpsuits and long loose t-shirts in dark colors with splashes of bronze and wine, shoulder bags with tassels and huge statement clutches.

Frida's inspiration for the designs came from the French, Russian artist Erté, renowned for his elegant creations that capture the art deco period in which he worked. As she explains herself, the collection is characterized by an "Intricate elegance, enlivened by a refined ornamentalism that takes its cue from Erté illustrations."
