For the Calvin Klein Menswear Summer 2014 collection, creative director Italo Zucchelli presented an intelligent take on the brand's known simplicity. In multiple shades of blue, basic pieces walked the runway while exuding a very characteristic sporty feel.
A bright Sunset on pitch darkness appears printed on a t-shirt, seeming like he wanted to bring out the contrast between different moods. Images of the sky and the sea were captured in Fire Island at different times of the day and superimposed, creating that opposition between states of mind.
Zucchelli was able to create a story through his work and tailored it to everyday people in basic, approachable pieces, like wool trousers, t-shirts, baseball jackets and tailored suits. The visuals were very well complemented with the simplicity of the garments, showing that functional can always be creative.
