Aiming to reduce costs and electronic waste, product designer Dave Hakkens has created one of the most amazing mobile phone concepts of our time. By putting together blocks that attach into a base, "Phonebloks" was designed to be easily upgraded and customized. Its parts can be individually replaced when necessary, leaving the rest of the structure that composes the device intact.
The customization is made as if it was a fantastic lego construction and it really allows us to create a smartphone according our needs. By buying only the blocks we are interested in, we can construct a device made to our own measure. The photography enthusiast will choose a bigger camera, the grandmother will select a speaker covering nearly half of the device and the traveler, who has all the files in the Cloud, will certainly pick a battery that can last throughout the week. It's a complete tailor-made smartphone, fit as a bespoke shirt.
The project is still in concept, looking for the necessary support through crowdfunding here
, so feel free to show the world you want a phone worth keeping.
