A dash of hipster chic, a sprinkle of a kid's box of toys and lots of brilliant colors. Those are the ingredients of Andrew Bannecker
's beautiful illustrations. The Washington based artist's style is simple with a crisp color palette and clear lines that are easily likable and possess a grown up charm, despite their sometimes silly subject of bunnies, sailors or bright red teddy bears.
His unique way of bringing any subject to life in his colorful illustrations is perfectly captured in the description of his workspace: "A collector of old ephemera and just about anything wood and metal, Andrew creates beautiful art that captures the imagination and tells a story. He works in a studio in Washington DC, beautifully cluttered with everything from toy rocket ships to vintage glass beakers filled with skittles."
Bannecker creates amazing art and designs but his work also includes a stunning array of multimedia advertisements, event posters, newspaper illustrations and all kinds of commercial collaborations. If you regularly commute by bus or subway in The US, you most likely have already seen illustrations by Andrew Bannecker without even realizing it. Most recently he has created ads for the caffeine giant Starbuck's brand VIA. That included TV spots as well as printed posters and magazine ads. Other high profile clients include Coca Cola, the clothing company GAP and the tex-mex chain Chipotle, just to name a few. He infuses a sort of playfulness, innocence and effortless cool in his illustrations that almost make you forget that you are looking at an advertisement.
Andrew Bannecker has been included in Luerzer's 200 Best Illustrators in the world and his artistic talent has been recognized by Communication Arts, American Illustration, The Society of Illustrators and the One Show among others.
